23:01 Weekdays at Farncombe
The new timetable comes out on December 12th and is the biggest revision for years.
New Siemens "Desiros" are appearing on all services now, with the
old slammers becomming more difficult to spot. The 23:01 is fully plastic, but
slammers can often be found in the daytime off-peak and also on very late services
such as the 23:53 up and 00:05 down trains. Wessies have largely been removed to
the Winchester line.
There are only two
CEP's left with SWT now (2311 and 2315) and even these are on borrowed
time as they should have been replaced.
CIG's and VEP's still exist in some numbers, including the celebrity
BR double arrow VEP. At any rate, it looks like we still have slammers for
the immediate future; possibly into 2005, so get them while you can!
